The feminine in us
Right now, pearls have almost taken over HerMine's.
And I let them. Like "going with the flow".
But are pearls just a trend, or are they a sign of something already in motion?
What do pearls stand for – really?
Metaphysically, pearls are often associated with the feminine in all of us. Not the romanticized feminine. Not the decorative. But the archetypal.
The pearl is a response to irritation.
A foreign particle penetrates the mussel. Instead of rejecting it, it encapsulates it.
Layer upon layer of mother-of-pearl. Protection turns into beauty.
It is a biological process.
But it is also a symbolic story.
Transformation without violence.
Refinement without aggression.
Creation through enclosure instead of dominance.
Feminine power lies precisely there.
In the ability to transform.
Physically, pearls grow layer by layer, in response to something that has rubbed inside. They are not polished to perfection. They are shaped by life.
And especially Keishi and baroque pearls clearly show this – their irregularity is not a flaw. It is proof of authenticity.
In a world that polishes, filters, and optimizes, it feels almost radical to wear something that is not symmetrical.
Has the masculine taken over even within us women?
For many years, strength has often been defined in masculine terms:
pace, achievement, results.
And the struggle for equality has rightly demanded drive, clarity, structure.
It was necessary. It is still necessary.
But when we step into structures built on masculine principles, it's easy to start valuing ourselves by the same standards.
How much do I produce?
How fast is it?
How efficient am I?
We started measuring ourselves in pace.
And perhaps we needed that for a while.
To make space.
To be heard.
But now?
Now we see another movement.
Slow fashion and second-hand instead of fast consumption.
Authenticity instead of perfection.
Feminine does not mean "woman"
It is an energy.
All people carry both. All people need both. And it is when both are in balance that harmony arises.
Masculine energy builds structures.
Feminine energy fills them with life.
