Who – or what – is spiritual?

Today I am "free".
And yet full of life.
There is a lot to do, create, organize and plan.
In the midst of all this, a big question arises – a question that wants to be taken seriously:
Who, or what, is really spiritual?
My own answer cannot be anything other than deeply personal.
On paper, I am still Catholic and I have no intention of changing that. My upbringing in this faith still shapes how I feel, think, act and react.
If we put aside for a moment the human missteps committed in the name of religion, something beautiful remains: thoughts, ideas, and values that carry a fundamental ethic.
Messages such as that we should not kill, do not steal, do not harm – principles that shape an ethical structure for how we live together, and how we relate to God, or the higher power we choose to believe in.
For me, spirituality in life means above all exploring and healing oneself, in order to live as best as possible in line with one's own ethical values - in relation to oneself and to others.
It is to seek the truth in the life that surrounds us. To try to find meaning in the conditions and circumstances we face.
Spirituality is also feeling the presence of something greater – the unknown that surrounds us – and meeting it with reverence. Honoring and respecting both our own and others' life paths, tasks, experiences and lessons.
I believe we are here to explore life in its essence, with all the tools that nature offers us. At the same time, I understand that my brain is far too small to ever grasp the entirety of this great mystery.
But maybe that's exactly why we're here together. To contribute, each with their own part, to a larger puzzle.
A puzzle where every religion, every philosophy of life and every person carries their own piece of the puzzle. Where the picture that emerges may not contain a single truth – but many.
Among other things, a truth where we all contribute in our own way. My way yesterday and today has been to gently clear out the old and welcome the new – with what I have personally learned to trust.
Healing. Purification. Prayer. Meditation.
Music, singing and incense.
Joy, laughter and dancing.
Like nature's treasures, shaped and matured over millennia – crystals with their beautiful colors, patterns and shapes.
And to follow the signs that appear, when it is quiet around me – and within me.
But above all, spirituality means growing for me.
Trying to forgive.
To embrace, love and meet both myself and my fellow human beings at exactly the level we are all at – here and now.
I wish us all a loving and peaceful continuation.
Hug,
Christine
