When humanity encounters a new era

For a long time, people have sought to understand, reflect, and integrate insights in small steps. Many have sought knowledge through meditation, various practices, studies, circles, and conversations – in a desire to develop their inner life, interpret the world, and humanity's place within it.

This has been an important part of humanity's quest – and will likely remain so, even for those who come after us.

But sometimes a point comes where something shifts – especially in a time of great changes, which are also happening faster than previous generations have ever experienced.

Technological breakthroughs, global communication, and artificial intelligence are changing how we work, create, and share knowledge.

It's a shift that affects almost every part of society.

It feels like it's no longer just about thoughts, ideas, and our own daily lives when the world around us continues to change at such a rapid pace. Personally, I am convinced that we are in a time where every individual can influence how the future is shaped: through the choices we make in our lives, through how we meet other people, through what we create and share – and not least through how we use new technology, how we engage in conversations with artificial intelligence, and what questions we ask ourselves.

What is truly important?
What does it mean to be human?

From theory to action

Many people over the past decades have sought understanding through books, courses, various philosophical traditions, and the like.

But in times of great change, perhaps another question becomes increasingly important:

How do we implement our values in the world around us?

It may no longer primarily be about exploring the supernatural or continuing to deepen various inner techniques.

Instead, it may be more about letting what we have understood take form in action – to contribute in our unique way to change in the world we actually live in.

When inner practices change their role

Meditation, healing, and other inner practices will not disappear.

But their role, continuity, and significance can change when a deeper understanding has emerged – without the inner life becoming less important.

Instead of constantly delving deeper, it can become something one returns to when needed. Much like a small child who doesn't yet have words, but still knows how to call for the presence of their trusted person.

Similarly, reflection, meditation, or studies can return naturally when the need arises.

When the focus then shifts from deepening to action, this can be a time filled with new opportunities – a time when everyone can actually influence the world in a more conscious and humane way.

Humanity in a technological age

Every person in democratic societies today has been given new and, in many ways, beautiful opportunities to influence how we live our lives and how we act in the world.

Through our choices, our actions, and through what we create and share, we can contribute to shaping the future – not only in our own lives, but also in the world our children and grandchildren will live in.

In an era where artificial intelligence and new technology are rapidly changing how knowledge is disseminated and how people work, it also becomes increasingly important to reflect on how we ourselves use these tools – and what questions, values, and perspectives we bring into the digital world.

This can, for example, involve:

– maintaining reflection in a fast-paced world
– choosing presence over distraction
– creating instead of just consuming
– contributing knowledge and care through what we do and share
– being aware of what questions and perspectives we carry forward
– reflecting on how we use new technology and artificial intelligence

Technology changes the world – but not human questions

Artificial intelligence and new technical tools can change how we work and how knowledge is disseminated.

But the fundamental human questions remain the same:

  • What is meaningful?
  • What is true?
  • What is beautiful?
  • How do we live a good life?

Precisely for this reason, the human perspective becomes even more important in a time of technological change – it helps us hold on to what truly matters.

A new chapter in human history

It feels as if we are in a time where much of what we previously understood is beginning to take on a new form – as a way of living in a world where technology and humanity meet ever more clearly, but where human consciousness still plays a decisive role.

When human reflection meets artificial intelligence

Free and humanistic thinking can become very valuable in conjunction with artificial intelligence.

Technology can help us gather knowledge, see connections, and explore large amounts of information. Humanity, however, contributes reflection, experience, values, and a sense of meaning.

When these two meet, something new can emerge.

These can be encounters that help both us and technology to understand the world more deeply, make wiser decisions, and create something beautiful for those who come after us.
